Overview:

Navigating the complexities of payroll tax compliance is a critical responsibility for businesses operating across multiple states. This challenge becomes significantly amplified when employees live in one state and work in another, or travel for work across various states.

Recently, in 2023, companies in different states faced substantial fines for various payroll tax compliance issues: A Kentucky company was penalized for failing to withhold state income taxes from out-of-state employees working in Kentucky, a California company was fined for neglecting to pay state unemployment insurance taxes, and a Texas company faced fines for not paying state workers' compensation premiums. These incidents underscore the importance of understanding and correctly applying multi-state payroll tax laws.

This webinar aims to elucidate these complex issues. We will explore a variety of scenarios, including detailing residency rules and the implications for employers.
